The bar, along with our snacks and sharing plates, is at the heart of this restaurant
A Casa das Gatas is a historic building dating back to the 20th century, located on Rua do Gairgal (Agorreta neighbourhood). At the time, it was run by two sisters who managed a small guesthouse and a restaurant where they prepared homemade dishes. These two sisters were nicknamed “the cats” (gatas), which explains the origin of the name.
A Casa das Gatas has kept its original name. The three-storey building (with an additional double terrace) has been renovated and is now an innovative space that blends rustic elements with modern lines, typical of top-tier restaurants.
In other words, it is an excellent place to enjoy before, during, or after dinner. Dry-aged meats are the main highlight of the house. Alongside the meats, there is also a strong focus on petiscos and side dishes, as well as fish dishes and desserts, all prepared in our kitchen.
For the most part, we carefully select natural products from our region. Sicó cheeses and olive oil are just a few examples of this preference for local products from around Pombal. Wines are hand-picked, and the wine cellar features bottles from all regions of Portugal. And of course, there is always a cheese board or tapas available to accompany the drink of the gods.
